Membership Information

 

The West Morris Junior Women’s Club is a community based volunteer organization of women from the Mendhams and the surrounding communities.  We provide community service to the area through such activities as our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, Luminaries Fundraiser Event, Spelling Bee, School Scholarships and charity fundraisers.

 

General meetings are held at the Garabrandt Center, 4 Wilson St., Mendham NJ or the Field House, 107 Seminary Ave., Chester.  Meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of each month at 8:00 p.m., from September to June. Meetings are not held July and August. September, December, and June meetings are held at a member's home and are special gatherings like our Porch Party (September) to kick-off our Fall events of community service, holiday Yankee gift exchange (December), and summer welcome and celebration of another great year of service (June).  

 

Several community events are held throughout the year, including membership drives, fund raising events, food, coat and recycling drives. In addition, several WMJWC members-only events are held to foster family connection and member relationships. These events include a Halloween party, ice cream socials, Cookies with Santa, Paint and Sips, and holiday Yankee-gift exchange.

 

Membership requirements include:

 

  • Attendance of one general meeting prior to joining

  • Minimum of 8 volunteer service hours per year, including:

    • Preparation and distribution of event fliers

    • Organization and coordination of event activities

    • Service hours at the event

    • Does not include providing food/beverage items for the event

  • Active members must attend at least 3 general meetings per year

 

Annual member club dues are $65. Dues are payable to the Treasurer on February 1st or upon admittance to club.  Our Annual Banquet is held in January to welcome new members, to recognize the clubs achievements and to honor those who will become Alumni and their contribution to the club. 

 

Resignations effective for the coming year must be submitted to the Membership co-chair in writing by February 1st.
