30th Annual Spelling Bee

On Saturday, January 24, 2026 the West Morris Junior Women’s Club (WMJWC) held their 30th Annual Spelling Bee. Over 50 local fourth and fifth grade students from Mendham and Chester schools participated in the Bee held at West Morris Mendham High School. After 15 rounds of spelling, the top three winners emerged:

1st Place: Scarlett P., 5th Grade, Bragg Elementary School
2nd Place: Declan F., 5th Grade, Mountain View Middle School
3rd Place: Taylor C., 5th Grade, Mendham Township Middle School

The WMJWC 30th Annual Spelling Bee was a success due to the many people involved who gave their time and effort. Thank you to the teachers and staff at the Chester and Mendham schools who assisted in preparing their students for the Bee and also the Audio/Visual crew, Facilities team, and custodians at West Morris Mendham High School who aided in the setup. Last, but not least, a big thank you goes out to the following West Morris Juniors ladies who participated on the Spelling Bee Committee and volunteered for the event: Spelling Bee Co-Chairs: Danielle Ingram and Jordan Susko, Word Caller: Amy Dow, Judges: Cynthia Brusco, Megan McCarthy, and Liza Saunders, Event Helpers: Catherine Patullo, Kristen Schutzman, Danielle Watts, and WMJWC President: Lauren Martin.
