2nd Annual Mothers Celebrating Mothers

This year, the Juniors held our 2nd Annual Mother’s Day event where we as Members (and mothers) gave back to other mothers in need. Our amazing members filled and donated 25 Mother’s Day gift baskets and 30 card kits for their children to make cards for their mothers, to the women and children living in Jersey Battered Women Services (JBWS) transitional living facility.

JBWS an exceptional organization located in Morristown, NJ, providing assistance to Morris County women who are survivors of domestic violence and abuse. JBWS offers women, who often feel helpless, the ability to escape their abusers by providing them with free housing, therapy and counseling, pro bono legal services, and other basic necessities such as food, gas money and toiletries.

There are currently about 25 single mothers and 30 children living in the JBWS Safehouse and transitional living housing facilities in Morristown. Acknowledging that single mothers (especially those without financial resources) often do not receive gifts on holidays, it was our goal to provide these brave women with Mother’s Day Gift Baskets and provide their children Mother’s Day card kits to make and give to their mothers on Mother’s Day! JBWS was blown away by our donation, and the mothers and their children were incredibly thankful to receive these gifts to brighten their day, as they are going through a difficult time in their lives.

We could not be more thankful for the commitment and donations from our amazing and generous members. This is one of our favorite events of the year and we will continue to hold this event for years to come!

Special thanks to:

  • Our Mother’s Day Committee: Melissa Dagostino, Liza Saunders, Shawna Wagner, Melissa Rawley-Payne, Donna Pierson, and Ariana Bath!
